| April 2007 - Easter in Normandy! | |
| For our Easter break we headed to a tiny little village in the middle of Normandy with Kerry, Ricc, Piero, Ana, Deb and Gio for six days of sightseeing, cheese, cows, cider, calvados and more cider, heres Sourdeval on the map: | |

| It was also our first big adventure in our new car - our beautiful black Alfa 156 or Le Negra as she is now known: | |

| And the fastest way to get to France is under the channel tunnel - heres Cath trying not to look too worried at the thought of being in a car, in a train, in a tunnel, under ground and under water: | |

The Normandy coast is famous for being the base for the Allied liberation of Europe in World War 2, here are some of the remaining concrete blocks that made up the Mulberry Harbour that the Allies bought over from England, its pretty amazing to think that these were built to last for six months, floated across the channel and are still there nearly sixty years later: |

| We also visited the site of Pegasus bridge, the first location that the allies landed in their battle to liberate Europe: | |

| But what was definitely most memorable was visiting the WW2 graveyards, this is one the smallest of the graveyards for English and German soldiers, spending some time surrounded by 700 dead young men is something that is very humbling: | |

| On a more light hearted note there are lots of great sights to see in Normandy, heres the gang lining up to take a snap of Mont St Michael: | |

| Heres what they were snapping, the breathtaking Mont Saint Micheal (and some sheepies): | |

And heres some young members of the congregation on their way to church (maybe): |

| Not far from Mt. St. Mick. is the equally stunning town of Saint Malo: | |

| Another must visit on the coast is the town of Cancale an oyster lovers heaven, here you can get a dozen fresh (and I mean real fresh, they are grown only 20 metres from this stall) oysters for only 3.5 euros! | |

| So of course we had a few: | |

| dozens... | |

| But it wasn't all hard work, on Easter Sunday we focused on sitting around in the sun: | |
![]() | |
| And sure it wasn't really warm (it was only about 18 degrees) but after an English winter, any sunshine is too good to pass up: | |
![]() | |
| So that's it from all of us in sunny France! | |

Till next time, see ya! |
